SEO vs Google Ads

Paid search buys speed. Organic search buys a lower cost per lead over time. How to split budget when you sell software, stores or local services.

Search and ads performance charts side by side

SEO and Google Ads are not rivals. They are two ways to show up for the same query. The mistake is spending on one while the landing page for the other does not exist.

Use Google Ads first when

  • You need leads this month for a proven offer.
  • The keyword is so competitive that organic will take a year.
  • You can measure a form or call — see Google Ads.

Use SEO first when

  • The site is slow, unindexed, or has no service pages.
  • You sell many related services and can publish real pages.
  • Local map pack matters — start with local SEO and GBP.

A split that usually works

Fix tracking and the five commercial pages. Put a test Ads budget on the highest-intent terms. Put the rest into technical SEO and one useful article a week that links to those pages. Kill any ad that cannot name cost per qualified lead.

Ads without a matching service page burn money. SEO without a crawlable page is a wish.

We run both for clients who already have an offer. SEO and Ads are quoted separately so you can see the work.
